The final dilemma is how you are going to wear your makeup on your special day? Since most women wear makeup on an almost daily basis, sometimes preparing your makeup for your wedding day seems of less importance. Makeup Tip 1 – Stay True to You

Your wedding day is a time to showcase your unique beauty and style that’s all your own. This may or may not be the best time to try a new look. If you’ve seen makeup in a bridal magazine or on a celebrity that looks fantastic – you might want to wait until a less visible time to try it out. You want your family, friends, and fiancé to recognize you as you make your walk down the aisle.

Makeup Tip 2 – Allergies Happen . . . But, Not Today

Whether you decide to do your own makeup, hire a friend or a professional makeup artist insist on using your own mascara, eyeliner and eye drops. Allergic reactions happen far too frequently and you do one need a reaction on your most special day.

Makeup Tip 3 – Shimmer . . . Don’t Shine

Shimmering bronzers, highlighters and light-refractive makeup are quite fashionable.  the rage right now, they don’t always translate well into photographs. You want to look fresh, but not overly shiny.

Makeup Tip 4 – Need Professional Help

If you are not makeup-savvy or even if you are, why not hire a makeup artist to come create your look on your special day? It will take the pressure off you, you’ll look terrific, and you’ll have one less thing to worry about. Just be sure to insist on a “practice session” several days before so that you can be confident you’ll look your very best.

Even though I am going to give you some hints and tips for dark eyes, remember that variety is such a wonderful choice and you are free to experiment with other colors as well. This is just a guide to help you choose a color when you are at the makeup counter and in front of you are over 50 colors to you have no idea where to begin.

How to Choose an Eyeliner Color

Let’s start with eyeliner color and go from there. Two good options for dark eyes are black or dark brown eyeliner. Whether your eyes are light or dark brown, your eyeliner should be dark brown and black. Don’t line your eyes too thick; a thin line will do just fine.

If you’re trying to open smaller eyes, line first with silver or white. Start from the inside corner of your eyelid and stop about third of the way through. Then finish with a black or a dark brown liner.

Navy, forest green, violet and copper are also great eyeliner choices. Play around with the different colors and pick the ones you like best.

How to Choose an Eye shadow

The most common issue women ask me is “which eye shadow can I wear with my brown eyes?” Continue to read below ladies and I’ll have an answer for you.

Eye shadow is meant to highlight and define the eyes. Eye shadow is used to create depth to bring out the beauty of the eyes. A dark color used on the lid will make the eye appear smaller, while a lighter color will make it appear larger.

Common makeup tips for brown eyes typically include browns, beige and neutral tans. Grays and charcoals also look good with this eye color, as do violet and lavender. You can mix it up with lavender and a violet.

Khaki and olive green are a great color combination. Browns with green highlights or copper highlights are always a fun option. Try copper and even gold. If your eyes have a tinge of green, choose green eye shadows as well.

I find that brown eye shadow looks quite good with my brown eyes. I use browns that have some highlights in the color – usually, gold or silver highlights. Do remember that brown eye shadow can look very good with brown eyes and green eye shadow can look very good with green eyes. Brown eye shadows are all pretty safe, so you don’t have to worry too much about those.

I love using black, gray and charcoals when I want a smoky eye looks. Otherwise I wouldn’t suggest it as an eye shadow.

Bare Minerals: Product Review

Today I am doing my first “official” product review of Bare Minerals Get Started Kit

Bare Minerals are made with pure, crushed minerals from the earth, Bare Minerals SPF 15 Foundation looks like a powder, feels like a cream and buffs on like silk, giving skin a natural glow.

Ever since I was a child, I have this big scar right in the middle of my forehead, and when I always cut my bangs to cover it. Recently I decided I wanted to grow my bangs out, but what to do about the scar? I decided to try Bare Minerals and see if the results are as fantastic as they commercials claim. Continue to read and see for yourself . . .

The Skin Revver-Upper, which is included in the Getting Started Kit is an amazing product. It instantly smooths out skin, giving it a vibrant finish and a canvas surface for makeup application. The thing is, even if you don’t apply the makeup, your skin still looks amazing. It’s like a mini-facelift in a tiny tube.

Another fantastic product by Bare Minerals is the Clear Radiance All-Over Face Color it’s a translucent powder with a soft, pink shimmer that gives your skin life, glow and a natural look that’s gorgeous. It also makes a great blusher and the perfect finishing powder.

bareMinerals Get Started Kit Medium bareMinerals Get Started Kit Medium

$60 for this kit may look steep at first, but trust me…it lasts for MONTHS. It’s still not as cheap as drugstore makeup kit, but it is still a lot less expensive than high-end department mineral products. And it makes your skin, look and feel great.

Product Features and Benefits:

This product meets natural beauty standards with a high concentration of quality natural botanicals while keeping harsh chemicals to a minimum.

  • Skin Cancer Foundation Recommendation  – The Seal of Recommendation is granted to products that provide effective UV sun protection and safely aid in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin
  • A $174 Value.
  • TWO Shades of Bare Minerals SPF 15 Foundation. Medium and Medium Beige, 06oz each

I’ve been using this product for over three months now and I highly recommend it. My skin not only looks great but I know that the minerals are actually helping to heal and protect my skin as well.

Please avoid buying the mineral eye liners and eye shadows. For some reason these products just don’t work the way they’re supposed to.  The mineral eye liners and eye shadows clumps up, sticks to the bathroom counter, is hard to clean up and often makes a big mess.

Natural Mineral Makeup

When companies make natural mineral makeup they use iron oxides, ultramarine’s and titanium dioxide. These minerals are first cleaned in a laboratory to make them same for use in cosmetics. Until recently, the cosmetics industry ignored the popularity of natural minerals makeup, advertising the unnatural or colored makeup. Now, natural makeup products such as nude lipstick, clear mascara, see through powder and sheer blusher have become more popular.

Colorescience Makeup Take-Out Box - Not Too Deep

Cosmetic companies are coming out with these products for woman of all skin tones. Some companies have taken the natural or minerals makeup to creating nearly invisible or no-makeup looks. Natural mineral makeup is very pretty, and it doesn’t require too much skill or time to apply. Lately, women have become comfortable with natural mineral makeup, healthy foods, and exercise. Women would rather improve our health and muscle tone more than spend extra money on our skin.

Natural minerals makeup products are now being be created with nutrition, including nutrients, trace minerals and powerful anti-oxidants in mind. These natural makeup products possess all-natural ingredients. Natural minerals makeup heals the skin, provide natural sun-block, last longer than ordinary makeup and are so safe they can even be used in the sensitive and fair skin. They are also water resistant, which helps give the skin a healthy glow, silky look and good for women with oily or dry skin as well. For women who don’t feel comfortable wearing a lot of makeup, and who want to look clean and healthy, natural mineral makeup does just this.

Get smoky eyes with these 8 simple tips and tricks:

  1. First dab your concealer under your eyes.
  2. Line the top lashes with liquid eyeliner as close as possible to the lash line. Line the bottom lashes with a pencil, as close to the lash line as possible.
  3. Begin applying a matte black base on the inner portion of your lid. You want to pull the color upwards and outwards to begin covering the lower part of your lid. The matte base should be in the form, shape of your natural eye.
  4. Next take a light silver or gray eyeshadow and blend from the top lash line up to the brow bone. The color should be applied lightly.
  5. Brush a mid-toned gray from your lash line to just above your eye crease and blend upwards. Keep your brush at this angle as you apply the eyeshadow to the outer edge of the base.  To help soften some of the line, gently swish your brush back and forth over the outer edge.
  6. Apply a dark gray eyeshadow over your eyelids, blending any hard edges. Gently swish the brush along the curve of the outermost edge of the gray shadow, making sure you avoid the crease.

How to Apply Makeup to Eyes and Cheeks

Pigment makeup gives your skin tons of color and shine, and lasts all day without the need to reapply. Pigments are used for eye shadows, blush, and lipstick. The colors are so vivid and intense you need to be careful when applying. A little goes a long way . . . so read below for simple tips and tricks when applying.

Step 1: Pigments will best stick to skin that is well hydrated, so be sure to add lotion prior to applying.

Step 2: Use concealer or primer and apply to the upper part of your eyelashes and directly under the lash line of your bottom lashes.

Step 3: Pigment makeup that comes in a pallet, use a q-tip or rounded tipped brush to apply. Pigments that come in powdered form and are best applied using an angled brush.

Step 4: If using the powered form of pigment makeup gently tip the jar into cap or lip. Give the cap or lid a light shake to distribute the makeup evenly.

Step 5: Make sure that the mineral powder adheres evenly to the brush, and then gently tap the brush on the edge of the lid to remove any excess.

Step 6: Once the shadow is onto the q-tip or angled brush, close your eyes to apply eye shadow in a sweeping motion from inside out.

Step 7: Smile and apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks in a gentle circular motion.

Step 8: Finish with two coats of mascara and you are finished.

While holding a hand-held mirror check up close on the magnifying sides to make sure you don’t have too much color on your eyes and cheeks. Do the same on the non-magnifying side in plenty of light. Use a damp cotton ball or q-tip to remove and excess pigment makeup.
