Eyebrow Shaping

Eyebrow shaping is very common procedure and done by almost everyone. Now even men are interested in shaping their eyebrows. The simple reason behind this is eyebrow shaping gives a well-defined look to the face. Depending on your facial feature, you too can shape your eyebrows in easy five steps. But while your eyebrows, you will need to be very careful or else you might end up looking worse than what you will look without eyebrow shaping. You will need to do it carefully so that both your eyebrows have the same shape and look identical.

Eyebrow Shaping

  • The first step is to trim your eyebrows. Trimming your eyebrows will make you look younger instantly. As you know the eyebrow hairs also grow and each month you will need to trim the eyebrow hair depending upon your hair growth. You will need a little comb and a point scissors to trim the extra growth of the eyebrows. Comb your eyebrows in the upward direction and then trim the extra hairs that are going above the natural eyebrow line. Next comb your eyebrows down and trim the hairs that are going below the natural line of your eyebrow.
  • Your eyebrow should start from a particular point. To decide this particular point, hold an eyeliner pencil vertically against your nose. The point where it touches the eyebrow line is the particular point where the eyebrow should start. You will need to tweeze the hairs that are present before this starting point.
  • To decide the arch of your eyebrow, hold the eyeliner pencil diagonally so that it touches the side of the nose, mid-mouth and the tear duct of the eye. Make sure that you tweeze some hairs from the arch but make sure that you do it in gradual line.
  • Now hold the eyeliner pencil diagonally from the other end of the face so that it again touches the opposite corners of the mouth, nostril and the outside corner of the eye. The point where it touches the outside corner of the eye is the point after which there should be no eyebrow hairs. Hence trim all the hair outside this point.
  • Now hold the eyeliner pencil horizontal over your eyebrow. The pencil should show a perfect straight line. Hence in these easy five steps, you have already done with eyebrow shaping.

In the beginning you will find these steps very hard and will not understand how you will manage to do it on your own. But with time you will surely know what you are supposed to do in eyebrow shaping. Just make sure that you are not standing too close to the mirror while shaping your eyebrows. Also make sure that there is enough light falling on your face and mainly on your eyebrows, so that you don’t end up cutting wrong hairs. In case you are not daring to shape your eyebrows then go to any professional makeup person, who will shape your eyebrows. In this there is no risk that you will end up spoiling your eyebrow shape.

All women no matter of what age and where they stay cannot even think their life without makeup. Most of the time of a woman’s life goes in buying the makeup products and applying makeup products. Being a woman, you yourself have spent lots of time and money in buying the best quality products. But you will agree on one thing that you don’t pay much attention to makeup brushes, which are also equally important aspect of applying makeup. You apply the makeup with your fingers and other brushes that are available in your house, just to save few bucks. Makeup brushes are very important and hence make sure that you buy them along with buying your makeup.

How to select makeup brushes so that you don’t end up buying any kind of brushes, which later you have to throw in dustbin. To know more about makeup brushes, you can do some research on the Internet and know in detail about the makeup brushes and the criterion’s to buy them. Buying makeup brushes has to be done wisely, so as to make the brushes last for long time. If proper quality makeup brushes are chosen then they can last for more than ten years. The quality brushes are very helpful, as they allow the application of makeup is smooth and perfect way.

One very essential tip while buying makeup brushes is to buy those brushes that are hand made, as they last longer. There are main three parts in any makeup brush – the hair, handle and a metal part that joins hair and the handle. Among the hair part of the brushes too there are three main types – natural hairbrushes, natural bristle and synthetic hair. Among all these three types of hairbrushes the natural hairbrushes are considered to be the best ones. The makeup application becomes very easy and effective with the natural hairbrushes. These types of brushes are good for applying foundation, blush and eye shadow. The synthetic hairbrushes are good for applying concealer, eyeliner and liquid foundation.

Also one more important tip to remember while buying makeup brushes is to buy first cut hairbrushes, as they are the best quality brushes available in the market. Virgin cut hairbrushes and blunt cut hairbrushes are not that effective. Squirrel hairbrushes are the most in demand brushes as makeup artists use them. These brushes have fine point and thus are very effective in applying makeup. But only thing is that squirrel hairbrushes are a bit expensive. Hence you can buy pony hairbrushes, which are less expensive and almost equally effective in applying makeup as that of squirrel brushes.

Makeup brushes has to be kept carefully too, so that the brushes will not get damaged. The makeup brushes should not be shared with anybody, keep it for your personal use only. This way you will not get any kind of skin problems. The brushes should be cleaned properly after using them. But make sure that you don’t wash them often or they will loose their soft touch. Don’t use the same brush for applying all the makeup products. Each makeup product is unique; so make sure that your brushes for applying them are also unique.

Manicure 101

In this post I am going to go through some simple steps to having a flawless manicure:

  1. Remove old nail polish thoroughly.
  2. Soak hands in warm water for 10 or 15 minutes. Dry hands.
  3. File nails in one direction only. Avoid using a seesaw motion.
  4. Push back cuticles. Use a cuticle moisturizer if they do not push back easily after soaking.
  5. Massage your hands. Use a moisturizing lotion. Use an exfoliating lotion if your skin is dry and/or roughened.
  6. Apply a base coat. Allow it to dry.
  7. Apply polish. Clean any stray marks with a cotton swab dipped in polish remover.
  8. Add a second coat for deeper color.
  9. Finish the manicure with a top coat of clear polish.

Tips: Put your hands in a basin or sink full of ice-cold water if you need your nails to dry in a hurry.

Warnings: Avoid cutting your cuticles with scissors or nail clippers.

Fantasy Makeup Tutorial

Today I’m blogging about fantasy makeup!!!

With spring’s drawing near each day, I just can’t wait to go to the public rose gardens and walk down the cherry lanes. Especially this year’s flower festival is going to be special as we had a rough and scary winter here in the USA. My desire for spring inspired me to post this look called Butterfly Blossoms. I recreated it from another site using my favorite products.

INGREDIENTS

Eyes:Ice Skate a loose glitter that comes in a variety of colors, black eyeliner and mascara, dried rose petals, and decorative wings.
Face: Foundation, setting powder
Cheeks:Joy (mauve lilac) Blush
Lips: Runway Pink

First, I used my foundation to smooth my sensitive skin. Secondly, I applied powder to matte my face. Since this look is all about eyes and lips, it’s best to keep the rest of your face subdued – otherwise you’ll end up looking messy and too bold. Last but not least I boldly applied Runway Pink to lips.

EYES

I applied Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion – Brightening all over my eyes, took a flat definer brush, dipped it into Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box Set and applied it all over my top lid – no blending needed as your brow bone’s will be covered up with petals anyway. Then I did the same for BECCA – Extra-Fine Eye Liner Brush and dabbed it on my crease. Instead of a kohl I thinly applied eye liner brush to my waterline. I suggest that you use BECCA – Extra-Fine Eye Liner Brush wet, as its powers only intensify in combination with water. :) Take your eyeliner and draw a thin line and put mascara on your lashes.

We are going to need some eyelash glue to apply the petals (I used rose but any other flower would be fine). I got mine at the craft store. And of course you can dry blossoms yourselves which takes quite a long time, but would make your look even more special! I used my fingers to apply, but you can also use tweezers as well. Dip a blossom into eyelash glue and firstly apply to lower lid’s outer corner. I had no shape concept in my head and arranged them at random. The glue dries very fast, so be quick! Alternately, I applied small petals and even tiny rose buds. Afterward I took my red decorative butterfly wings (you can get those at hardware stores as well) and glued over the brow.

To add extra magic, I dipped a fluff brush into my silver and golden sparkles and roughly applied them all over my eyes and even the flowers – that sparkle adds a lot! This might sound complicated, but all you really need is time, patience and the will to do this look!

LIPS

Since Lime Crime lipsticks are creamy and easy to put on (which is important as I have the driest lips on earth), I decided to finally try out Runway Pink. I dabbed multi-purpose magic dust in Ice Skate on top to make my lips shimmery and glittery.

How To Apply Fake Eyelashes

Applying fake lashes is best left to your makeup artist, but with a little patience and practice, you too can master this art. So don’t try it five minutes before leaving to a big party. Andrea lashes are great and they are available inexpensively at the drugstore.

Keep a piece of paper handy to hold the lashes, and a magnifying mirror, which makes the job a lot easier.
Using tweezers, dip the base end of the lashes into the glue, then place the lashes as close to the baseline of your own as you can, filling in wherever you want the greatest impact (generally, the mid to outer lashes look fabulous in false lashes). Press gently, but firmly with something blunt. Hold the lash in place for about 5 seconds until the glue has a chance to hold.

Let the glue dry, and then apply a dark eyeliner to camouflage the line of the fake lashes and then apply your mascara. The mascara will help blend your own lashes with the fake ones, and make your eyes look fuller and larger.

To remove, gently pull them off with tweezers.

How to Wear Red Lipstick

When wearing red lips, you normally want to keep eye makeup subdued. One exception to this rule is an evening look: deep red lipstick and a mysterious smoky eye make a striking combination and are the very definition of glamor!

INGREDIENTS

  • Eyes: black, gray and ivory eyeshadow, black eyeliner, mascara
  • Black

  • Lips: deep red lipstick, red gloss
  • Lip-Ink Specialty Lip Kit Reds

  • Face: concealer, foundation, foundation primer, blush
  • Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush - # 104 Carefree Coral 6g/0.21oz

Eyes

Curl lashes. Apply 3 layers of black mascara to top & bottom, let dry. Curl again. Prep the lids with Foundation Primer and dab black eyeshadow up to the crease and extending outwards. Repeat this step on lower lid. With a medium-sized brush, sweep gray eyeshadow slightly over the crease, blending over the black. Repeat the same over the lower lid. Sweep ivory eyeshadow onto the brow bone and underneath the brow arch. Blend well into the gray. Apply black eyeliner on the waterline.

Did you know?

Liquid eyeliner is best applied to the outer edge of waterline, close to the lashes and away from the eyeball. This will prevent it from getting into your eye (ouch!).

Face
Moisturize skin, apply Foundation primer and then foundation. Concealer for dark spots and under the eyes. Keep blush natural – any tone that matches your skin tone. Finish off with a light dust. Add a beauty mark anywhere on the face with a liquid liner or pencil liner.

Lips

Smaller mouth was preferred during that era. This can be achieved by covering the edges of your mouth with foundation and recreating the shape from scratch. Draw inside the natural lip line with dark red pencil and fill in with Royal Red lipstick. Finish off with red gloss, like Baby Lips!

How To Get Perfect Cat’s Eye

The cat eye makeup look is one that is fun and surprisingly simple to create. You can easily wing your eyeliner to transform your day look into a nighttime look instantly. You could also spark it up by adding metallic eyeliner, dark eyeshadow, false eyelashes with sequins, or any other fun extras you can think of. First, let’s follow one technique to create a basic cat eye with liquid eyeliner.

black/smoke

You will need liquid eyeliner to create this look. My favorites include e.l.f  Eyeliner  and Shadow Stick which has a curved sponge tip, and e.l.f  Waterproof Eyeliner Pen which has a brush tip.Black

Don’t worry too much about getting trivial amounts in your eye when applying, as most reputable liquid eyeliners are ophthalmologist-tested and hypoallergenic, which means they are safe for contact lens wearers and shouldn’t irritate your eyes.

Be sure to brush off any excess liquid eyeliner on the product tube before applying to avoid loading too much onto your eyes. If you have trouble applying liquid eyeliner, it’s okay to draw your cat eye first with pencil eyeliner then trace over with liquid. Also, if your eyes tear easily, it’s okay to use liquid only on your top lash line and use pencil eyeliner to line your bottom lid.

1. Prep your eyelid by applying matte foundation and/or an eyeshadow primer. This helps to keep liquid eyeliner from smearing or fading easily.

2. Using brown or black liquid eyeliner, start in the middle of your lash line and glide your liner out past your eye a bit. I find that tracing your lash line closely keeps the line straight, and you can always go back and add more to get the line to your desired thickness.

3. Now, go back and start from your inner eye and glide the liner across until it meets the line you just made.

4. To get a perfectly winged cat eye, carefully extend the liner up to a point and fill in or trace over any uneven spaces.

Product Review: Stila’s Eye Shadow

It’s something unexpected in eyeshadow: an explosion of stars. Stila’s shadows’ silky texture delivers an incredible amount of sophisticated, twinkling sparkle. Boasting 40% more glitter than our most sparkly shadows, Stila’s delivers a sheer wash of color, topped with teeny bits of iridescent sparkle that glisten like wet snow. The glitter (a pricey ingredient called reflex), actually stays on your lids. No fallout, no chunky glitter… just stunning, sparkling eyes.

Stila Eye Shadow Trio Bronze Glow

From uptown neutrals like black, grey and brown to bright pops of turquoise, green and purple, the galaxy of shades helps create tons of looks, and blend well with our other Stila eye shadows and range of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils.

TIPS:
Achieve more vibrant color when applied with your fingers – whether you choose wet or dry, Stila’s unique formulation loves a personal touch!

Looking for a softer sheer color wash? Use an eyeshadow brush.

Try it wet for most intense color – and remember the power is in your fingertips with Stila’s eye shadow.

Stardust is unlike any other shadow – you will see some glazing on the surface after use – this is part of her character and does not affect the color or sparkle factor.

It’s all About the Foundation

We have all seen someone wearing the wrong shade of foundation; she walks around all day long with a line around her jaw line that’s a different color than the rest of her skin. The biggest mistake that most women make is in thinking that foundation makeup is to give them color – WRONG!!!

Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation 50 Watts

Foundation should match your own skin tone to smooth over imperfections and give you an even or blank canvas for your makeup. A foundation that is darker than you need, will not give you a tanned, healthy glow . . . but it will make you look weird (maybe that’s why everyone in the grocery store is staring at you). I’m cautious of “treatment” foundations that protect and nourish your skin. I would all be cautious of “idiot-proof” foundation makeup that claims it will adjust its color to your own unique skin tone.

Foundation makeup can be applied effortless and easily by following these simple steps:

  1. Apply a light moisturizer over your face before applying your foundation.
  2. Put about a dime sized piece of foundation into the palm of your clean hand. If your fingers aren’t clean, think about everything you touched this morning and all the bacteria and grime are going straight to your face!
  3. Add the same amount of shimmer lotion to the hand you’ve applied the foundation.
  4. Mix the two together using your clean fingers.
  5. Dab the mixture onto your face without rubbing it in.
  6. Stroke the foundation makeup on your face with your fingers in an upward motion. Do not hurry through this step, be patient and take your time . . . your face depends on it.
  7. Make sure the foundation mixture is smoothed up to your hairline and down to just below your jaw line.
  8. Be gentile with the skin around your eyes, as it tends to wrinkle easily when tugged.
  9. Apply your makeup in the daylight or under plenty of lights to check for evenness.
  10. Do not worry about “sealing” your foundation makeup with powder. You want to look fresh and healthy, not fake and made-up.
