Fantasy Makeup Tutorial

Today I’m blogging about fantasy makeup!!!

With spring’s drawing near each day, I just can’t wait to go to the public rose gardens and walk down the cherry lanes. Especially this year’s flower festival is going to be special as we had a rough and scary winter here in the USA. My desire for spring inspired me to post this look called Butterfly Blossoms. I recreated it from another site using my favorite products.

INGREDIENTS

Eyes:Ice Skate a loose glitter that comes in a variety of colors, black eyeliner and mascara, dried rose petals, and decorative wings.
Face: Foundation, setting powder
Cheeks:Joy (mauve lilac) Blush
Lips: Runway Pink

First, I used my foundation to smooth my sensitive skin. Secondly, I applied powder to matte my face. Since this look is all about eyes and lips, it’s best to keep the rest of your face subdued – otherwise you’ll end up looking messy and too bold. Last but not least I boldly applied Runway Pink to lips.

EYES

I applied Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion – Brightening all over my eyes, took a flat definer brush, dipped it into Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box Set and applied it all over my top lid – no blending needed as your brow bone’s will be covered up with petals anyway. Then I did the same for BECCA – Extra-Fine Eye Liner Brush and dabbed it on my crease. Instead of a kohl I thinly applied eye liner brush to my waterline. I suggest that you use BECCA – Extra-Fine Eye Liner Brush wet, as its powers only intensify in combination with water. :) Take your eyeliner and draw a thin line and put mascara on your lashes.

We are going to need some eyelash glue to apply the petals (I used rose but any other flower would be fine). I got mine at the craft store. And of course you can dry blossoms yourselves which takes quite a long time, but would make your look even more special! I used my fingers to apply, but you can also use tweezers as well. Dip a blossom into eyelash glue and firstly apply to lower lid’s outer corner. I had no shape concept in my head and arranged them at random. The glue dries very fast, so be quick! Alternately, I applied small petals and even tiny rose buds. Afterward I took my red decorative butterfly wings (you can get those at hardware stores as well) and glued over the brow.

To add extra magic, I dipped a fluff brush into my silver and golden sparkles and roughly applied them all over my eyes and even the flowers – that sparkle adds a lot! This might sound complicated, but all you really need is time, patience and the will to do this look!

LIPS

Since Lime Crime lipsticks are creamy and easy to put on (which is important as I have the driest lips on earth), I decided to finally try out Runway Pink. I dabbed multi-purpose magic dust in Ice Skate on top to make my lips shimmery and glittery.

MakeUp Tips: 8 Steps to Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes have been around for quite some time. There is nothing like a woman with beautiful, sultry, smoky eyes, and there’s no sign this makeup trend is leaving anytime soon. I’ll show you step-by-step instructions on how to get the perfect smokey eye.

You will need the following products: concealer, a dark eyeliner pencil and liquid eyeliner, and Stila Smoky Eye Palette Original.

Get smoky eyes with these 8 simple tips and tricks:

  1. First dab your concealer under your eyes.
  2. Line the top lashes with liquid eyeliner as close as possible to the lash line. Line the bottom lashes with a pencil, as close to the lash line as possible.
  3. Begin applying a matte black base on the inner portion of your lid. You want to pull the color upwards and outwards to begin covering the lower part of your lid. The matte base should be in the form, shape of your natural eye.
  4. Next take a light silver or gray eyeshadow and blend from the top lash line up to the brow bone. The color should be applied lightly.
  5. Brush a mid-toned gray from your lash line to just above your eye crease and blend upwards. Keep your brush at this angle as you apply the eyeshadow to the outer edge of the base.  To help soften some of the line, gently swish your brush back and forth over the outer edge.
  6. Apply a dark gray eyeshadow over your eyelids, blending any hard edges. Gently swish the brush along the curve of the outermost edge of the gray shadow, making sure you avoid the crease.

  8. Apply the dark gray eyeshadow against your outer lower lash line. Gently place the brush against the outermost portion of your lower lash line and then gently move it towards the inside of your lash line, make certain that you stop one third to one half of the way to create a soft line below your lower lashes.
  9. Finish with two coats of mascara and you are finished.

How to Apply Makeup to Eyes and Cheeks

Pigment makeup gives your skin tons of color and shine, and lasts all day without the need to reapply. Pigments are used for eye shadows, blush, and lipstick. The colors are so vivid and intense you need to be careful when applying. A little goes a long way . . . so read below for simple tips and tricks when applying.

Step 1: Pigments will best stick to skin that is well hydrated, so be sure to add lotion prior to applying.

Step 2: Use concealer or primer and apply to the upper part of your eyelashes and directly under the lash line of your bottom lashes.

Step 3: Pigment makeup that comes in a pallet, use a q-tip or rounded tipped brush to apply. Pigments that come in powdered form and are best applied using an angled brush.

Step 4: If using the powered form of pigment makeup gently tip the jar into cap or lip. Give the cap or lid a light shake to distribute the makeup evenly.

Step 5: Make sure that the mineral powder adheres evenly to the brush, and then gently tap the brush on the edge of the lid to remove any excess.

Step 6: Once the shadow is onto the q-tip or angled brush, close your eyes to apply eye shadow in a sweeping motion from inside out.

Step 7: Smile and apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks in a gentle circular motion.

Step 8: Finish with two coats of mascara and you are finished.

While holding a hand-held mirror check up close on the magnifying sides to make sure you don’t have too much color on your eyes and cheeks. Do the same on the non-magnifying side in plenty of light. Use a damp cotton ball or q-tip to remove and excess pigment makeup.

MakeUp Guide: Skin

Makeup for your skin can be difficult to match, but once you find one that fits, you look more put-together. Colors for fair skins have pink (“porcelain”) undertones. While many people with fair skin do have pink undertones, others are neutral or warm (red and yellow undertones), so it can be a bit more difficult to find a foundation that matches. A good rule of thumb is to test the foundation on the jaw line-not the back of your hand! At the jaw line, you see the color of both your face and neck, and you want a foundation that matches your skin and blends seamlessly between the two areas. Once you’ve found the perfect face makeup for your fair skin, you can move on to colors.

A general makeup guide for your skin would be to avoid anything that looks harsh, whether it is a dark eye shadow or blush, very deep lips with no other makeup, or tons of lipstick. Choose one area of your face on which to focus.

All skin tones can have all different eye colors, so choose eye shadow colors that complement your eye shape. Make sure that the colors are well blended. Natural or neutral colors are universally flattering. Mascara can be either brown or black.

A flush of color on the apples of the cheeks makes skin look healthy and radiant. Look for sun kissed glow , and apply with a gentle hand. Gel blushes may also work well, since you can sheer them out and they mimic natural flushing very well. Makeup should make you look brighter and fresher, not muddy and dull.
